Article 5- CFP PARTY PRINCIPLES
5.1.0 The Citizenship Principles of the CFP are:
5.1.1 Cultural Harmony is dependent upon tolerance of other beliefs and customs, which respect National Heritage, Values and Goals.
5.1.2 Canadian citizens have a Canadian Duty to Love, Care, Respect and Serve each other.
5.1.3 Canadian citizens have a Canadian Responsibility to exercise self-control, self-discipline and fair treatment of others in order to earn their Rights and Freedoms.
5.2.0 The Family Principles of the CFP include:
5.2.1 Canadian Heritage First Nations and Judeo-Christian Family Values are a core strength of Canadian social and community development.
5.2.2 Present and future Canadian Family Lifestyles include: traditional heterosexual couples, same sex couples, trans-gender couples, singles, and group homes.
5.2.3. Family Economic Units should have no less than equal opportunity to create wealth and accumulate capital as other economic units, and be empowered to do this in a manner that will produce a more equitable distribution of new wealth across Canada.
5.3.1 We believe in the need for effective crime-prevention programmes, social rehabilitation for criminals, victim restitution, and that Canada's criminal justice forces should be alert and responsive to the communities they serve.
5.3.2 We believe the Family is the Foundation of Canadian lifestyles. We affirm the value and dignity of each individual Soul, and the importance of strengthening and protecting the family unit, as essential to the well-being of individuals and society.
5.3.3 We believeGovernment and Businesses have a responsibility to help parents balance work and family lifestyles. Parents have a duty and responsibility to provide for their children’s needs, train them in self-discipline, respect for authority, responsibility, and self-confidence.
5.4.1 We believe Canadian Citizenship entails Rights and Freedoms earned by Responsibilities to respect Canadian Heritage and Canadian Values
5.4.2 We believe that to achieve World Peace, Economic Development and Environmental Sustainability, close cooperation amongst democratic countries is desirable.
5.4.3 We believe: a) The State Serves the needs of the citizens. b) The State Respects the principles of democratic accountability. c) Constitutional Liberty is based upon the principle of separation of powers. d) Justice in criminal prosecution requires both the right to a timely public trial, and to a fair verdict free from any political influence. e) Both, State Economic Control and Private Oligopolies threaten political liberty
5.4.4 We believe in Freedom of Spirit, Conscience and Religion. Canadians have the right to advocate public policies that reflect the parameters of Canadian Values, without fear of intimidation or suppression.
5.4.5 We believe that the Interest of Minorities, and the people of under-populated regions of Canada, should be safeguarded by constitutional guarantees and parliamentary institutions that effectively balance representation by population with regional representation.
5.4.6 We believe in the Accountability of Elected Representatives to the people who elect them, and that the duty of elected members to their constituents should supersede their obligations to their political parties.
5.4.7 We believe that all Canadian governments have responsibility to Balance Expenditures and Revenues and demonstrate Fiscal Responsibility.
5.4.8 We believe that Canada’s traditional political party structure limits Democracy’s fundamental aim of Majority Rule to apply only on Election Day. Controversial legislation requires a plebiscite.
5.5.1 We believe that the Senate, consisting of appointed respected and deserving citizens, should continue to function in Canada as a watch-dog and advisory group to the federal parliament.
5.5.2 We believe that Canada has been woven together by threads of accommodation, both powerful and fragile -- powerful in what they support, fragile in that the passions of division are a constant threat. Canadians should never believe that Canada’s right to eternal existence is secure. Our Nation exists because we as Canadians will it to exist. This existence is easily endangered by those who stoke the divisions of region versus region, immigrant versus non-immigrant, aboriginal versus non-aboriginal, and rich versus poor.
5.5.3 We believe in the elimination of discrimination and exploitation on the grounds of class, race, sex, sexuality, religion, political affiliation, national origin, citizenship, age, disability, regional location, economic or household status.
5.5.4 We believe in the recognition and protection of fundamental political and civil rights, including freedom of expression, the press, assembly, association, conscience and religion; the right to privacy; the protection of the individual from oppression by the state.
5.5.5We believe asymmetrical federalism is the genius of Canadian confederation and the reason our diverse regions have worked together to create the best country on earth.
5.5.6 We believe that the provinces are inherently different, and their jurisdictions should reflect this. We believe devolving more powers to the provinces would weaken our nation. We need fewer provincial barriers, not more. We need more ties that bind us, not fewer.
5.5.7 We believe in the promotion of the common good. Securing the common good means putting the public interest above narrow self-interest and group demands working to achieve social and economic conditions that benefit everyone, including promoting a personal, governmental and corporate ethic of responsibility and service to others; creating a more open and honest governmental structure that relies upon an engaged and participatory citizenry, doing more to meet our common responsibilities to aid the disadvantaged, protect our natural resources, plus provide opportunities rather than burdens for future generations. The common good does not guarantee that everybody will be the same, think the same, or get the same material benefits in life, it simply means that people should start from a level playing field and have a reasonable chance at achieving success.
5.5.8 We believe that the People, as a whole, are the government. They have the only authority in a democracy to decide on important public policy.
5.5.9 We believe in Ecological Wisdom. The basis of Ecological Wisdom is that human beings are part of the natural world and the natural world is finite, therefore unlimited material growth is impossible and Ecological Sustainability is
paramount. We recognize that responsible stewardship, usage, conservation and enhancement of Canada's natural resources and environment will ensure the beneficial quality of the lives of Canadians, both now and into the future. We also recognize the need to work towards achieving ecologically neutral sustainable development.
5.5.10 We believe in Social Justice. The key to social justice is the fair and equitable distribution of social and natural resources, both locally and globally, to meet basic human needs unconditionally, to ensure that all citizens have full opportunities for personal and social development, and there is no social justice without environmental justice, and no environmental justice without social justice. In conclusion we believe in social justice and equality for individuals, the family and all social units, and the elimination of exploitation in the home.
5.5.11 We believe in the power of tolerance, compromise, diversity, optimism, hope and renewal.
5.5.12 We believe that the CFP has a role to continually seek agreement that achieve consensus, resolve conflicts between regions and between Canadians in different walks of life, strengthen the fabric of society and work towards a spirit of harmony in the country.
5.5.13 We believe that a healthy economy is important, but increasing the size of the gross national product is not in itself a sufficient goal for a civilized nation. We are concerned about the effects of economic growth - what this does to our environment, what kind of living conditions it creates, what are its effects on the countryside, what are its effects on our cities, whether a greater feeling of justice and fairness and self - fulfillment result from this growth, thereby strengthening the social order and improving the quality of national life.
5.5.14 We respect and recognize the prior ownership of Canadian land by the First Nations Peoples and recognize their special and essential relationship with the land as the basis of their cultures and are committed to a fair settlement of indigenous land claims in a manner that equally benefits the interests of Canadians and First Nations Peoples according to the principles, values and cultural harmony goals of the Canadian Federalist Party
5 .5.15 We believe in the pursuit and maintenance of world peace, independent Canadian positions in world affairs, recognition of the right of all peoples of all nations to self-determination and independence, regional and international agreements for arms control and disarmament, the provision of economic and social aid to developing nations, a commitment to resolve international conflicts through the UN, and a recognition of the inalienable right of all people to pursue liberty, equality, democracy and social justice.
5.5.16 We believe in the elimination of poverty, and the achievement of greater fairness and equal opportunity in the acquisition and distribution of income and wealth.
